On June 23rd students across years 7-12 collaborated in the design and creation of our new school Mural. Working with our visiting artist, Jamie from street style surgery, students engaged with learning new techniques in spray paint application, fade and tone, stencil use and mural creation.

Students began by designing their own individual graffiti Canvas’. Focussing on themselves and their identity students created a range of designs exploring the use of text, abstract self-expression and in some cases their love of their pets!!!! Once their designs where complete all students then had the chance to hone their graffiti skills by recreating their designs using spray paints straight onto their own canvas, resulting in a beautiful range of imagery that will be displayed in school.

While working on their canvas pieces students alternated working on our new mural, applying their new skills to a 5 by 4 metre permanent mural on site at TFA. This was an immense challenge with many hurdles to climb, beginning with basic outline and then infill, students showed great teamwork, cooperation, focus and positive energy throughout the process right through to completion and tightening up of lines and background.
An outstanding achievement for our wonderful students who have now left their permanent mark on the walls of TFA.
