On the 27th June 2022, TFA 6th formers visited the London Careers Festival at London Guildhall. We had an impressive start to the day, with all 6th formers gaining the benefit of either attending an Employability Workshop hosted by Ivy House or How To Run Your Own Business hosted by ‘Small Business’.
The students spoke very highly of the sessions they had attended. During the breaks, our 6th formers spoke to the exhibitors and started building their professional networks, whilst also getting a feel of central London and what it felt like to ‘grab a coffee!’.

They gained a brilliant insight into possible career progression routes other than university clearly raised their aspirations by showing them a small part of the world outside of education.

As we walked around the exhibition we could see the surprise on the faces of many of our students as they learnt of the endless opportunities they should explore, for example they learnt, The Armed Forces, funds students to study degrees in a range of subjects and combat was not the only job in the army. The officers at The City of London Police reassured many of our students considering a higher degree with the police that improving diversity is a key aspect of recruitment and that they should feel confident in applying as so much hard work had gone into removing barriers that people may have once faced.

Our students were incredible ambassadors for the school – so much so that many of the organisations have volunteered to come and visit us in school and we look forward to working with them in future.
