TFA Creative Arts Week 2025
This year saw the first year of TFA’s Creative arts week, a week where we as a school can take pride in our creative practice across all subjects as well as our specialist performing and visual arts. A team of staff and students worked together to influence and deliver a variety of exciting events and opportunities across the week.
Creative arts week kicked off on Monday with an absolutely stunning performance from TFA’s resident musical prodigy Jakob who’s violin performance of Harry Potter and Lord of the rings pieces had student and staff in awe. Alongside Jakobs performance a pop up exhibition of KS3 art work went on show in the crush to show the diverse talents of our young artists across the school.
Tuesday brought the heat with a range of students from year 7 to 10 having successfully been selected through their stunning mural designs participating an artist led graffiti workshop. Jamie from Street style surgery led our students in a workshop detailing the process of graffiti art skills, enabling students to develop their own canvas’ using spray paint, posca pens and stencils, before quickly joining Jamie in the creation of TFA’s newest Graffiti mural on the music block. I for one think this is the best one yet, a massive well done to all the students involved. Tuesday also brought another pop up performance this time an exciting and certainly surprising dance ensemble performance of ‘You can’t stop the beat’ in the middle playground, even a few of the year 9 boys couldn’t help but join in!
Wednesday kicked of with a change of pop-up exhibition, allowing the work of our wonderful Year 10 fine art and photography students to shine, alongside the mural created in Tuesday workshops. Lunch time bought our 3rd pop up performance with Anna in Year 9 stunning rendition of Hunger games Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes- WOW was that a boot stomping performance.
We rounded the week off with two more pop up performances, one on Thursday which bought us a Solo performance from our unbelievably talent Year 12 Sade, with her …….
And a final Ensemble performance of The Power of Love in the middle playground. A huge thank you and well done to all our showcase student who really blew everyone’s socks off in the run up to their big show!!!!
Miss Singfield also ran a photography workshop on Thursday for KS3 students focus on macro still life photography, teaching students how to use professional cameras, and how to get up close to buzzing bees, ripening berries and blooming flowers! The results were excellent!
Meanwhile across lessons student where able to engage in creative practice specialised to each subject with some wonderful outcomes enabling all to understand the importance of creative practice across all areas of the school. In Maths student where able to apply their knowledge to the creative of some stunning tessellations, meanwhile in Geography students focussed on cartography in the creation of their own personal understanding of themselves and TFA.
A huge thank you to all staff and student that worked incredible hard to make this a success!
